Case Study

A custom civic lookup tool built to turn complex legislative data into a simple public experience.
Find My Legislator is a free public-facing tool that helps people identify the congressional and state officials who represent them based on their home address. Designed to make civic participation more accessible, the experience is simple for users — but supported by a complex technical build.
To power accurate legislator lookup across multiple levels of government, we developed a custom web application backed by custom data infrastructure and our own API. This gave us greater control over how data is processed, structured, and delivered, while keeping the interface clear and easy to use.
Just like computers, human brains have a limited amount of processing power. When the amount of information coming in exceeds our ability to handle it, we may take miss important details or abandon the task.

This project is a strong example of the kind of work we do for organizations that need more than a standard brochure site.
Find My Legislator required us to work with custom datasets, develop custom lookup functionality, and create a tailored application experience around a specific use case. It also demonstrates our ability to build API-driven tools that transform structured data into something useful for real people.
In short: this was not template work.
It was a custom-built product designed to solve a real-world data problem.
Find My Legislator has quickly become a strong example of what custom civic technology can do when thoughtful user experience is paired with reliable data infrastructure.
Early signs of traction include:
That momentum helps validate both the usefulness of the tool and the technical foundation behind it.
